How Jessica Abbey Turned a $50K Facebook Find into a Thriving Beauty Business


Who are you and what business did you start?

I’m Jessica Abbey, the CEO of H-Town Beauty Supply and Commercial Corner.


What's your backstory, and how did you come up with the idea?

I’ve worked in commercial real estate for about three years. When my boyfriend and I were looking for our next investment, we recognized the opportunity in the beauty supply space. It’s such a dynamic industry, and we knew we could make an impact there.


Take us through the process of how you started your business.

We found the store through Facebook Marketplace and purchased it for $50,000. My boyfriend and I partnered on the venture, rebranded the store, and relaunched it. For Commercial Corner, my real estate journey began through networking—it’s been an exciting ride building both businesses.



Since launching, what has helped attract and retain customers?

Facebook groups and TikTok have been huge for us. These platforms allow us to connect directly with our audience and keep them engaged.


What tools or platforms do you use for your business?

We rely heavily on social media—Instagram, Threads, and YouTube are our mainstays.


What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources for you?

I love The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s such a powerful book and has really influenced my mindset.


What has been your highest revenue month or year so far?

Our highest revenue month at the store has been $10,000.


What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue the same path as you?

Make a plan and find qualified business partners who align with your goals. Collaboration is key.


What are you the most proud of?

I’m incredibly proud of acquiring my store through the knowledge I’ve gained in commercial real estate. Additionally, being an event sponsor for an Afrotech event in our first year was a major milestone.
